“Houses form a neighborhood but people make it a community."

Living as neighbors in the Ozarks, most of us treat each other the way we want to be treated.  Looking each other in the eye and living up to your word are still the best way to do business here. I can promise you my professional, friendly, down-home honest local knowledge.

Homes in Galena can vary from water-front property on Table Rock Lake to homes in subdivisons or in small towns.  We also have homes in the country on farms and ranches with acreage and seclusion.  Galena mailing addresses cover much of the north side of Table Rock Lake between the Reeds Spring and Branson West area on the east to as far West as Cape Fair.  Bounded on the north by Spokane and Hurley with Crane to the West.  But they come from all directions to sun, swim, relax, ski or to catch keepers like this big catfish I got this summer:)

Galena proper, the home of the county seat, is located right along the James River just above where it feeds into Table Rock Lake.  Here the lake can be accessed whenever the water is high by motor-boat and year-round by canoe or kayak.  Fishing, swimming, float-tubing and lots of other summer sports are enjoyed as well as noodling, frog-gigging, sucker-snagging and various other sports.

You can hardly tell from Galena where the river ends and the lake begins in the journey down the James but you get so involved in the natural beauty, you are normally too distracted to care.   The fall colors, like the springtime leafing process of change, almost leaves you breathless while relaxing and enjoying all there is to see in the Ozarks.

The county library building just completed this year and is located close to the county seat which is in the city square in downtown Galena on Hwy 248 and Main street which is south off Hwy 176 West on Hwy 248.

Real Estate Market Report for Stone County Month to Month:

Stone County Missouri Real Estate Market Report for December 2009 According to the local MLS statistics, single family homes sales in Stone County MO last month totaled 3 single family homes. The highest priced one sold for $325,000 and the lowest priced one sold for $159,000. The other one sold for $190,000 and that was a decrease in sales of 21 homes. That is not the news we hoped for the Stone County and Table Rock Lake area Real Estate Market. However, if you are thinking about buying, you have great timing! Condo sales more than doubled over the previous month with 8 condos sold. The highest price was $260,000 and the lowest was $89,900. The median price was about $135,000 which is also good news for the Stone County Condo Market. Real Estate Market information is local and we have financing available for buyers and a good price still being found on investment property. Naturally, whether you should buy or sell depends upon your particular circumstances more than any other factor. If you want to read more go to my blog @: http://bransonmohouses.com for all the latest reports and more. If you would like to go over your situation and get an honest evaluation of whether you are in the right "timing" or not, I will be glad to help. You can call my cell (417) 350-9743 or if you want to see what is available today. I am expecting the market to improve over the coming year and would love to help you with your real estate needs! If you want to know more about any of our local markets in the Ozarks, feel free to ask, I am always glad to help any way I can. Steve

Tips for Finding the Perfect Neighborhood

1. Make a list of all of the amenities that are close by in the neighborhood you are considering as your new residence.  Keep in mind what distances and routes to each of these places are acceptable and what are not.

2.  Determine what the best features of the neighborhoods are.  This is especially helpful if you are deciding between a few different neighborhoods.   Are there parks nearby?   Are there quiet areas, streets, culs de sac?  Are the people friendly in the neighborhood?   Are there nice trees and foliage?  Do the lots have large or small yards?  Are there walkways and are they easily accessible?  What are the market values of the homes in the area?  Are there many houses for sale?  How long ago was the community developed?  Are there community events or organizations?

3.  Walk around in the neighborhood.  The best way to determine the cleanliness and friendliness of the neighborhood is to walk around in it and meet its residents.
